What will be the tactics?

Burnley were often more Tony Pulis than a Tony Pulis side last season. It is difficult to imagine they can aspire to more after a fantastic effort from Sean Dyche to retain Premier League status. At their best they can frustrate opponents and strike with pace on the counter-attack, although the loss of Andre Gray will undermine them.

Who looks the most exciting signing?

With all due respect to Jon Walters, it is probably 23-year-old left-back Charlie Taylor. Taylor left Leeds for £5m and has been used at centre-half in warm-up games. He could succeed Michael Keane.

Which unknown could make a name for themselves?

Dan Agyei was handed his debut away at Anfield last season. With the sale of Gray, there are likely to be more opportunities for the youngster to offer a different attacking option this season.

Who’s the one player they cannot do without?

Tom Heaton (above) has the World Cup in his sights this season. It is likely he will have plenty of opportunities to impress.

How safe is the manager?

Burnley have done well to keep Dyche. There will come a time he is tempted away, but for now he should remain in charge regardless of whether this season is about survival.

Who would be the most appropriate celebrity fan?

Chris Evans: a long-standing grandee surprisingly still clinging on at the top and earning a huge amount of money in the process.
