What will be the tactics?

Another new manager means another new style, with Watford set to line-up in Marco Silva’s favoured 4-2-3-1 counter-attacking formation.

Who looks the most exciting signing?

Andre Gray will need to hit the ground running but is full of promise. Former Liverpool target Will Hughes and the returning Nathaniel

Chalobah are both real talents.

Which unknown could make a name for themselves?

Dynamic midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure was nearly shipped out last season but forced his way into the side after Christmas, becoming Watford’s best player in an otherwise disappointing run.

Who’s the one player they cannot do without?

Troy Deeney (above) is Watford’s captain, talisman and primary source of goals in a rather limited forward line.

How safe is the manager?

You never know with Watford’s revolving door policy, but Silva was the Pozzo family’s number-one choice to replace the much-maligned Walter Mazzarri. The Portuguese coach has made all the right noises in pre-season, with the fans already warming to his style and affability. If that can translate to success on the pitch, he’ll be fine. A wobbly start, however, and he will be keenly aware the axe could fall by Christmas.

Who would be the most appropriate celebrity fan?

Bruno Tonioli. An essentially Italian construct which has had every trace of romance stripped away courtesy of uninspiring appearances on Saturday night TV.
