University pay MP resigns
A Tory MP has resigned from a role at Bath University in protest over the “eye-watering” £451,000 salary of its vicechancellor.
Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell is Britain’s highest-paid university head.
Andrew Murrison, MP for South West Wiltshire, said: “Universities really need to ask if the eye-watering sums some dispense to vice-chancellors are really necessary.
“As a pack they look increasingly like a self-serving cartel at a time of mounting student debt and wage restraint in the public sectors.’’
