Mayonnaise fails to help Heinz UK sales catch up

-

British consumers bought less Heinz ketchup, soup and beans in the year to Jan 1, pushing total sales in the UK down 16pc and pre-tax profit down by almost a third. In an update, first reported on by The Grocer, HJ Heinz Food UK, Kraft Heinz’s UK unit, said “deep price cuts” and no volume uplift hit soup sales, and there was a “persistent category decline” in beans. Mayonnaise sales rose 50pc year on year thanks to the successful launch of the Seriously Good Mayonnaise range.
