Record passenger numbers at Heathrow

Heathrow posted its best ever month in July, with passenger numbers having hit 7.53m, up 1.2pc on a year earlier. This was an average of around 240,000 passengers each day. The airport said Middle Eastern destinations had proved particularly popular with passengers during the month, with a 7pc rise in numbers on a year earlier, and 5pc more passengers travelled to UK destinations in July after Flybe launched flights to Scotland.
