Monsoons leave 74 dead across Nepal and India

-

Floods and landslides have killed at least 74 people in Nepal and India as monsoons sweep the countries.

Officials feared many more casualties yesterday as rescuers searched for dozens believed lost under mud and in submerged villages.

Flash flooding across landlocked Nepal caused 49 deaths, with thousands forced to flee to higher ground.

In India, rescuers recovered 25 bodies from two buses that were swept into a gorge by a landslide so powerful it destroyed a stretch of highway.
