The eyes have had it

-

It sounds like an April Fool, and yet the traditional showers we are experiencing are not those of spring but the British summer. So the news from Suffolk that road signs referring to “Cats’ Eyes” are being replaced must be taken in earnest. Apparently the name is causing upset among people who, seeing “Cats’ Eyes removed”, imagine that the residents of Suffolk are inflicting terrible torment upon their felines. Tourists are especially prone to this misapprehension and have complained, though what spectacularly earnest and humourless part of the world they hail from has not been made clear. Happily however, Suffolk County Council has settled on a new name: Road Studs. No room for confusion there then. Unless Suffolk is seeking to take on Magaluf as the new destination of choice for rowdy hen parties?
