Off-duty British soldier found dead in Kenya

The Army is investigating after an offduty British soldier was found dead in Kenya. Sgt David Jones from 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards was found at the home of a woman in Nanyuki, local media reported.

Sgt Jones, believed to be in his 30s, was part of the British Army Training Unit. An Army spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with the soldier’s family and our deepest condolences go out to them at this most difficult time.

“The full circumstances of the soldier’s death are under investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.” The body is believed to have been taken to Nairobi before being returned home.
