Drinkers want a warm welcome, not warm beer
sir – Real ale drinkers do not like warm beer (“Let’s go down the pub deluxe,” Features, August 11). We love cool beer served at a cellar temperature of 13C (55F).
We also like well-run pubs where the landlord has a visible presence (often a rarity in many pubs today) and a knowledge of the products he or she sells. Customers will only use pubs where they feel comfortable with the surroundings and with their fellow drinkers.
