How the numbers have increased

Around 2.6m power of attorney agreements are active. In 2008, 57,947 were set up, rising to 454,840 in 2015.

So far this year, 322,573 have been registered, compared to 263,184 in the same period last year. Investigations into financial abuses went from 487 in 2013 to 885 in 2015. In 2013, 68 attorneys and deputies were removed for mismanagement or theft. This rose to 172 in 2015.
