Costco to pay $19m to Tiffany

A US court has ruled that Costco will have to pay Tiffany $11.1m (£8.6m) in profits, plus interest, on top of $8.3m for damages, after selling rings labelled “Tiffany” despite not being made by the jeweller and not having gained permission to use the trademark. Costco had claimed “Tiffany” was a generic term.
