Former footballer loses TV job after assault case
Peter Beagrie, the former Premier League footballer, has been dismissed as a television presenter after being found guilty of assault.
The 51-year-old was convicted by Skipton magistrates of assaulting Zarah Blake, his partner, in a row in April at a restaurant in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Beagrie, who played for Everton, Manchester City and Bradford City, was sentenced to a 12-month community order and 15 days’ rehabilitation. In a statement he said he intended to appeal. “I am innocent, something I have maintained from the outset,” he said.
