Sirius signs shaft contract for mine

Sirius Minerals, the firm seeking to build a giant potash mine in Yorkshire, has awarded the contract to sink its 1,500m deep shafts to Scarborough-based Associated Mining Construction. The announcement came as losses at the FTSE 250 company widened to £151m in the six months to June 30, from £23m last year.
