Under pressure Mental health help for teenagers

-

More than 100,000 teenagers a year will be given mental health training to help them cope with the pressure of exams and build up their self-esteem, the Prime Minister will announce today.

Theresa May will unveil plans to make a new mental health awareness course part of the National Citizen Service programme for teenagers in an attempt to reduce levels of depression.

More than half of mental health problems start by the age of 14 and 75 per cent by 18.

The course will be developed with health experts and NCS graduates and will be delivered as part of its programme to prepare young people for the challenges of adult life.
