Paris attacks suspect to stand trial over shooting

Belgian authorities say the lone surviving suspect in the 2015 Paris terror attacks will stand trial in Belgium over a shoot-out with police officers before he was caught last year.

The federal prosecutor’s office confirmed yesterday that Salah Abdeslam, who is in a French jail, and a suspected accomplice would face trial for attempted murder.

Abdeslam and two suspects were hiding in a Brussels flat when police carried out a routine search in March 2016. Four officers were injured in the shoot-out and one suspect was killed.
