Boozy breakfast

SIR – Celia Walden (Features, August 16) was horrified when a passenger on her flight ordered a G&T at 7am.

During my Army service, after a strenuous night exercise, one of my fellow subalterns requested exactly that at breakfast. He said it was not unreasonable, since he had been up since 1am, so it was actually lunchtime. Dermot Strangwayes-booth
