Reporter who exposed Savile crimes dies
Journalist Liz Mackean, who led the investigation into Jimmy Savile, has died after suffering a stroke.
The former BBC News reporter, who was 52, worked for the corporation for more than 20 years, but left in 2013 amid a row over the decision to shelve her investigation for Newsnight into the disgraced DJ.
Mackean also wrote for The Daily Telegraph. Her story about the child abuse committed by Savile was dropped by Newsnight in 2011. The investigation was later recognised with a scoop of the year award.
