Private hospitals’ £52m tax break

Private hospitals are enjoying a £52m tax break on their business rates through their charitable status while NHS hospitals are expected to face a £635m rise over the next five years. More than one in four private hospitals is registered as a charity and can receive rate relief of up to 80pc, according to rates specialist CVS.
