 Professor Richard Clay has ranged far and wide in his survey of utopia, for his final part, musing on whether it is in fact a state of mind, a state of transcendence to be pursued by any means. Those bearing witness include pioneers in Acid house music (A Guy Called Gerald) and minimalism (Steve Reich). Outside the musical sphere, Clay also explores haiku, and medieval carnivals.
