Lufthansa eyes Air Berlin’s Niki

German airline Lufthansa has submitted a so-called letter of interest in Air Berlin’s Austria-based Niki unit, sources have told Reuters. Ryanair chief executive Michael O’leary said he would be interested in snapping up Air Berlin as a whole but had not been invited to bid. Air Berlin entered administration earlier this month.
