Rising star Banker who became a teacher
Born in Pakistan, Mo Tanweer is believed to have emigrated with his family to Britain during the 1980s. Accepted to study an economics degree at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, Mr Tanweer graduated in 2004, going on to work in investment banking. Mr Tanweer worked in London and Madrid before quitting the City to pursue a career in teaching, firstly at Merchant Taylors’ School, an independent school for boys in Northwood, before taking up a position as departmental head at Oundle School, one of England’s oldest boarding schools. He joined Eton in 2015, quickly gaining promotion to become deputy head of academics. He was also a principal examiner for Cambridge International Examinations, where he helped oversee the Pre-u economics exam, an A-level equivalent taken by students wanting to go to university.
