Mentor of 7/7 bomber held after ‘recruiting for Isil’

♦ A radical Muslim cleric who influenced one of the July 7 London bombers has been arrested after officers in the US caught him allegedly trying to recruit jihadists in an undercover sting operation.

Abdullah el-faisal, a mentor of Jermaine Lindsay, who detonated a bomb on a Tube train near King’s Cross, killing 25 passengers, was deported to Jamaica in 2007 after serving a sentence for soliciting murder and causing racial hatred. He , now faces extradition to the US.

The Manhattan district attorney said el-faisal offered to help an officer travel to the Middle East and join Isil.
