Staff did not know how to call 999 as student choked

-

♦ A student choked to death after falling unconscious at a Thai restaurant where the staff did not know how to call 999. Narinthorn Alexander was celebrating her 21st birthday when she choked on a piece of chicken and collapsed at Thai Tho restaurant in London’s Soho, an inquest heard.

Coroner Mary Hassel concluded that the student’s collapse, on March 11, could not have been prevented as it was a result of her drinking more than half a bottle of whisky. But she criticised the restaurant: “It seems to me that any organisation which deals with the public should at least make sure that staff know how to call an ambulance.”
