Lorry drivers charged over crash that killed eight

A GROUP of friends and family on their way to a last minute holiday in France were killed along with their minibus driver when they were hit by a drunk lorry driver, it is alleged.

Six men and two women died, with four people, including a five-year-old girl – whose parents are believed to have been on the minibus – in hospital last night. The drivers of the two lorries involved in the M1 smash near Newton Pagnell have been charged by police.

Ryszard Masierak, 31, of Evesham, Worcs, is due to appear in court this morning charged with eight counts of causing death by dangerous driving, four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and eight counts of causing death by careless driving while over the alcohol limit.

David Wagstaff, 53, of Stoke-ontrent, is charged with eight counts of causing death by dangerous driving and four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been bailed to appear in September.
