Pensioner attacked in her bed by burglar

 An 88-year-old woman assaulted in her bed raised the alarm after crawling to a neighbour’s house.

Police have charged Andrew Hodgkinson, 35, with robbery after the attack in Chorley, Lancs. He is due to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court today. The victim was woken at around 12.30am on Saturday to find a man assaulting her and demanding money. He pulled her from her bed and continued the assault.

The victim crawled to a neighbour’s house. She was taken to Wigan Hospital where she was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
