The Daily Telegraph

Ladies of letters

- Penny Russell-grant

SIR – Well done to Valerie Mais (Letters, August 25) for pointing out the low proportion of letters from women. I’ve noticed it time and again but have not had the time to write and draw it to your attention.

Colchester, Essex

SIR – Over the years my cousin, Keith Macpherson, has had many letters published by The Daily Telegraph. Perhaps it is because he writes in and, with this exception, I don’t.

St Helier, Jersey

SIR – The reason behind the apparent preponderance of male correspondents on the Letters page is that all the letters are in fact written by women but submitted under male pseudonyms in greater expectation of being published. I am probably a woman.
