Creepy-crawly cleaner

SIR – Recent letters (August 23) have attempted to explain the reduced number of insects on car windscreens.

I suspect the spiders that hang out in the large wing-mirrors of modern cars are partly to blame. John Thraves

SIR – About 10 years ago, I had a wasp nest under the tiles of my garage.

I left it alone. All summer the wasps hoovered up every aphid and other unwanted critter in my garden.

Three years ago I had another nest, this time under the tiles of my kitchen roof. Again I left it alone and had a bug-free summer.

I do miss my wasps. Helen Forster
