Banks shut up shop

-

SIR – We have just been informed that the last bank in our town is closing in October.

We are being offered training in internet banking, should we require it. However, a number of people either don’t have IT access or simply don’t want to use internet banking.

I find it difficult to understand why the major banks can’t work together to ensure that they keep just one bank in towns and villages open, thereby providing a valued service to the community and preventing customers from having to travel to use a bank.

The bank’s profit may be important, but customer service should also be taken into account.
