Nosy drone sparks panic among MPS
A drone prompted security fears in Parliament after House of Commons authorities failed to inform MPS it would be used for routine maintenance work.
Staff grew concerned for their safety after the unmanned drone was seen flying close to windows around the Portcullis House area where MPS and staff have offices.
Daniel Kawczynski, a Conservative MP, criticised the authorities for not making staff and politicians on the estate aware, causing panic. He told the London Evening Standard: “It sounded like a plague of locusts and then I saw this huge thing. It looked like it was looking into all the offices.”
A Parliamentary source confirmed the drone was used to carry out a building survey and MPS were not informed because both the Commons and the Lords are in recess.
