The right word

SIR – Your feature, “Why I chose words” (August 29), was a joy to read.

My late husband, Ray Goddard, was a journalist at our local paper until his untimely death at the age of 41. His primary school teacher commented: “Raymond loves words.”

All of your featured writers show a love for words and display extraordinary talent at putting their views across, entertaining us and educating us. Alison Pearson is correct – it does take hard work to write an easily read piece. I, personally, am hugely appreciative of the efforts of your talented team of journalists.
