Rathbone, S&W merger talks end

Merger talks between mid-cap wealth manager Rathbone Brothers and rival Smith & Williamson have collapsed following “very extensive due diligence and negotiations”. Rathbone said it had been unable to agree a deal which was in the best interests of its shareholders. Earlier this week, reports emerged Tilney was interested in S&W.
