Seven Years in Tibet (1997)

 A bottle-blond Brad Pitt, with cod Austrian accent, plays real-life ex-ss Australian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer, who in 1942 escapes from a POW camp to the sacred Tibetan city of Lhasa. He gives the Dalai Lama (played by three actors as the spiritual leader aged four, eight and 14) a crash-course in Western culture, and is taught, in turn, to be a better person. Lovely scenery, overlong film.
