Children in Croydon ‘at risk of significant harm’
The Government has intervened in Croydon’s children’s services after an Ofsted report revealed that inspectors had to take “immediate action” to keep children safe.
The Department for Education has appointed a commissioner to oversee the department after children were found to be “at risk of significant harm”.
Inspectors said that social workers and managers at the Labourcontrolled council were not doing enough to prevent children being sexually exploited. The report, published yesterday, said: “Too many front line practitioners do not follow child sexual exploitation and missing procedures to protect children.”
