Obscene screen leaves council bosses red-faced

Council bosses were left embarrassed after pornography appeared on screens at a shopping centre.

Police launched an investigation after an obscene website was displayed on a digital noticeboard near Telford Shopping Centre, in Shropshire.

Telford and Wrekin council said the internet connection to all its digital screens in the area was cut as soon as the problem was reported.

But by then photographs of the offending images had been shared by thousands of people on social media.

The council has launched an internal investigation into whether its public display system had been deliberately hacked.
