Wheelchair-using peer denied a space on bus

-

A peer who uses a wheelchair has called for a change in the law after a London bus driver refused to let her on because there was a pram on board.

Baroness Sal Brinton said the driver claimed he had the law on his side when he drove off. The Liberal Democrat president is now writing to ministers calling for a change in the law to make it clear how drivers should act in such situations.

The peer is calling on the Government to change bus driver regulations to include giving access to wheelchair users as one of the reasons a passenger can be required to move.

Transport for London apologised and said it was investigating.
