Anger over £130 fine for school run drop-offs

-

Angry parents have criticised a trial which would see them fined £130 for dropping children at the school gates.

Croydon Council has come under fire after blocking off roads near three schools and warning parents they will be hit with the hefty penalty if they drive there on the school run.

Cllr Stuart King, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: “This trial is about improving child safety and boosting walking and the environment.

“By getting hundreds of individual parents to park legally outside these pedestrian zones or – even better – at home, we hope this will make a big difference.”
