Georgian charms of the Brink of Wisbech
sir – On the question of Britain’s best streets (Letters, September 2), have you considered the North Brink in Wisbech?
It is said to be one of the most beautiful Georgian streets in England.

sir – I have never been to Oxford, but I imagine it has more evocativesounding names for its streets than High or Broad.
Here in Ilkley we have a road that starts in the centre of town and goes up towards the moor. It is called Cowpasture Road. There is not a cow or a pasture anywhere near it, that I know of, but it evokes all manner of lovely thoughts.

sir – I read with interest and some envy the various claims from your correspondents, that they have the best high street in the country, as a few years ago my high street was voted the worst.
I have seen little change, but wonder if it is still the worst.
