Dangerous driving law could extend to cyclists

-

Cyclists could be charged with dangerous driving, Theresa May has said, as she confirmed the Government is looking at changing the law following the death of mother-of-two Kim Briggs, 44, an HR executive who was hit by cyclist Charlie Alliston, 20, in February last year.

The Prime Minister revealed yesterday that laws on dangerous driving could be extended to cyclists. It follows the court case at which Alliston was convicted of “wanton or furious driving” under a 150-year-old law. At Prime Minister’s Questions, Heidi Alexander, Mrs Briggs’s MP, asked Mrs May to support her campaign.
