‘Assembly line of abuse’ in Egypt

An international rights group says the Egyptian president has given a “green light” to systematic torture inside detention facilities.

In a 63-page report, Human Rights Watch yesterday said Abdel-fattah el-sisi was pursuing stability “at any cost” and has allowed widespread torture in an “assembly line of serious abuse”.

Egypt’s foreign ministry declined to comment.
