Corrections and Clarifications

An Aug 22 article wrongly stated that Ofqual, the exam watchdog, had warned that the new GCSE grading system would lead to more children getting incorrect marks. In fact, while Ofqual noted that the probability of marking errors is higher where grade boundaries are closer together, the new GCSE exams and mark schemes have been specifically designed to support the higher number of grades. We are sorry for any confusion.
