Electrical blast sparks panic in Oxford Street

Police evacuated a stretch of Oxford Street in London last night after a “power network” explosion blew a hole in the road, injuring one man and panicking scores who ran into shops to hide. Bronte Aurell, a witness to the 7pm incident on the corner with Harewood Place, tweeted: “I was right there – if that’s an electrical explosion, I don’t want to ever meet one again.”
