Phuopsis stylosa, or Caucasian Crosswort, hails from northern Iran and is rarely found in the UK.

It’s a perennial that makes good ground cover on a bank, in a rock garden or at the front of a border and grows easily.

It boasts small clusters of funnel-shaped pink flowers in summer and can grow to a height of 20cm.

The aromatic leaves emit a distinct smell, like foxes or cannabis, especially when they are crushed or pierced.
