When the show shouldn’t go on and on and on…

-

Exciting news for telly addicts such as myself who, unburdened of a social life, find that the only thing that keeps them going is the thought of the next episode of Doctor Foster.

According to research by the University of Melbourne, people who watch their favourite shows in one go forget what happened quicker than those who watch on a weekly basis.

Binge-watchers were also less likely to enjoy the show; there is something so exciting about being made to wait, don’t you think? (Don’t broadcasters know that, like a prospective partner, if they offer up everything on a plate at once, we’re less likely to find it attractive?)

“Despite its position as the preferred viewing schedule amongst modern television consumers, binge-watching may affect sustained memory,” said the researchers.

I’ve long suspected that Netflix was making me stupid, but it’s nice to at long last have scientific proof.
