The Earl of Darnley
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were represented by Sir Thomas Dunne, accompanied by Lady Dunne, at a service of thanksgiving for the life of the Earl of Darnley held yesterday in Hereford Cathedral.
The Dean of Hereford, the Very Rev Michael Tavinor, officiated and gave an address. Canon Andrew Piper, Precentor, read the first lesson and Lord Clifton of Rathmore (grandson) read the second lesson. Lady Katherine Sagna (daughter) read I Thank Thee, God by Elizabeth Craven. The Earl of Darnley (son) and Sir Charles Nicholson paid tribute to Lord Darnley. Oumar Sagna, the Hon Edward Bligh, Amina Sagna, Khadim Sagna and the Hon Alexander Bligh (grandchildren) read prayers. The Bishop of Hereford gave the blessing.
Mr David Evans, Director of Music, Hereford Cathedral School, conducted a combined choir formed of representatives of the Hereford Cathedral School Senior Chamber Choir, Cantabile, and the Saturday Music School Adult Choir.
The Bishop of Ludlow, the Rt Rev Anthony Priddis, the Rt Rev John Oliver and Canon Chris Pullin, Chancellor, were robed.
The Vice Lord-lieutenant for Herefordshire and the High Sheriff for Herefordshire, accompanied by Lord Lisvane, attended.
The Chairman of Herefordshire Council and Mrs Wilcox, were present.
The Mayor of Hereford was represented by Councillor Chris Chappell.
