Brexit festival
SIR – CG Flint (Letters, September 8) proposes a Great British International Exhibition in 2020, to mark our departure from the EU.
I agree that this would be an excellent idea. However, 2021 would allow more time, and would come on the 70th anniversary of the Festival of Britain and the 170th of the Great Exhibition.
As well as celebrating British achievements in industry, culture and the arts, the event would enable relevant projects to be promoted – such as the new concert hall planned for London.
It would also be possible to build a “village” showcasing the best ways to solve the country’s housing problems. Marcus Taylor
