Truckers keep going

-

SIR – I am the founder of Truckers’ Toilets UK, a campaign to improve toilet facilities for lorry drivers.

I have every sympathy with Patricia Graham (Letters, September 8), who found lay-bys occupied by lorries.

Lorry drivers should be allowed access to toilets at the companies they visit – although refusals still occur. Lorry parks are closing; hence the use of lay-bys, where toilet facilities are a rarity. If drivers are caught using the roadside as a loo they risk being fined.

Our goods are transported by lorries driven by a human being who needs to use a toilet just like the rest of us. Gillian Kemp
