SECURITY arrangements at Prince George’s school are being reviewed after a woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.

The suspect, who is in her 40s, was detained yesterday afternoon at Thomas’s Battersea school in south London following an incident 24 hours earlier. A woman allegedly gained unlawful access to the private school on Tuesday afternoon and was on site for a short time before leaving unchallenged.

She appeared at the school at around the same time the following day.

It is understood the woman did not have contact with any children at the school.

A woman was later arrested. Prince George, who started at the £18,000 a year school last week, was not present when the incident took place as the reception class is currently only attending mornings. While any alleged motives were unclear, sources said there was no suggestion any of the children were in danger.

A woman was being held last night and was being questioned on suspicion of attempted burglary.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The arrest at 14.15 hrs on Wednesday, September 13, relates to an incident at Thomas’s Battersea school on Tuesday, September 12, when an individual gained access to its premises. The arrested woman was taken to a south London police station where she remains in custody.

“We are working with the school, which is attended by His Royal Highness Prince George, to review its security arrangements after the incident.

“Police were alerted and officers attended immediately after the issue came to light.”
