Chicken row may affect UK-US deal, admits Gove
Concern over American chlorine-washed chicken could hold-up a post-brexit UK-US trade deal, Michael Gove has said.
Giving evidence to the Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, the Environment Secretary said the Cabinet had agreed Britain would not relax its food or animal welfare standards.
Pressed on whether the issue of chlorinated chicken could hold up a deal with the US, Mr Gove said: “Yes”.
