Bestival victim’s family yet to hear from boyfriend

- By Hayley Dixon and Nicola Harley

THE boyfriend of the model who died at a music festival is the only person who knows what happened to her and he has not been in touch with her family, they have said.

Louella Michie, the daughter of

Holby City star John Michie, died at the Bestival music festival in the early hours of Monday.

She had been in an on-off relationship with aspiring rapper Ceon Broughton for a number of years, and the family said that “they appear to have taken an illegal substance”.

When Miss Michie fell ill, Mr Broughton, 28, tried to raise the alarm, but it was too late to save the 25-yearold.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder and supply of a controlled class A drug by Dorset Police.

Mr Michie, 60, and his partner Carol Fletcher – a former Hot Gossip dancer – said that their “hearts are broken by this horrific tragedy”.

In a statement the family said: “We do not believe there to have been any malice intended in Louella and Ceon’s weekend at Bestival.

“They appear to have taken an illegal substance but we would appreciate cautious and sensitive reporting until the facts are known.

“Louella inspired all who knew her Louella Michie and boyfriend Ceon Broughton, above, had an on-off relationship for a number of years with her joy of life. The family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt tributes and messages.”

Police said further tests, including a toxicology report, will take place over coming weeks to establish if there were any substances in Ms Michie’s system or other suspicious circumstances.
