Look out for tired migrating birds
The RSPCA is asking the public to take care if they come across seabirds that have become disorientated during their migration south.
At this time of year, seabirds, like a Manx shearwater that has been rescued by the RSPCA in Aberystwyth, can go off track as they begin migrating for winter.
In this case, the bird, which was heading for South America, was found lethargic in the middle of a road.
The Manx has a sharp beak and RSPCA Cymru urges anyone approaching them to take caution, and to call 0300 1234 999.
While they are excellently built for swimming, the birds can struggle on dry land and deteriorate quickly if they become lost during migration.
Thankfully, the bird discovered last week was treated at Gower Bird Hospital and has been released back into the wild.
